UPSC EPFO Previous year question paper  2021 and 2017 



The UPSC EPFO exam is a recruitment exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the post of Enforcement Officer/ Accounts Officer in the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). The exam consists of two stages - a written exam and an interview.

General English:

Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, comprehension, and usage of words.


Indian Freedom Struggle:

Nature and character of the Indian National Movement, the rise of nationalism, the contribution of national leaders, and the role of women in the freedom struggle.


Current Events and Developmental Issues:

Current affairs of national and international importance, such as social, economic, and political issues.


Indian Polity and Economy:

Indian Constitution, governance, and polity, including the Preamble, Fundamental Rights and Duties, Directive Principles of State Policy, Parliament and State Legislatures, and Indian Economy.


General Accounting Principles:

Bills of exchange, self-balancing ledger, accounting procedures, depreciation, provisions and reserves, preparation of final accounts, financial statements, basic concepts of cost accounting, and auditing.


Industrial Relations and Labour Laws:

Trade unionism, industrial disputes, settlement machinery, and labor laws such as Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, Employees' State Insurance Act, and Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act.


General Science and Knowledge of Computer Applications:

Physics, Chemistry, and Biology up to 10th standard level, and knowledge of computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.


Paper 2:


Indian Economy:

Basic concepts, measurement of national income and its components, poverty and unemployment, inflation, fiscal policy, monetary policy, balance of payments, and external debt.


General Accounting Principles:

Accounting standards, financial accounting, management accounting, cost accounting, auditing, and taxation.


Industrial Relations and Labour Laws:

History and evolution of labor laws in India, salient features of the Trade Unions Act, 1926, Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, Minimum Wages Act, 1948, Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, Payment of Wages Act, 1936, and Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948.


Knowledge of Computer Applications:

Computer applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Internet.
